American West Metals Reports Camp-Scale Mining Opportunity at Storm

American West Metals Limited (ASX: AW1 | OTCQB: AWMLF) has reported assay results from its 2023 drilling programme at the Storm Copper Project, Canada.

The latest assay results for the Lightning Ridge prospect and the 2200N Zone confirm thick, high-grade intersections of copper that further expands the footprint of near-surface copper mineralization.

Managing director, Dave O’Neill, commented, “This year’s drilling programme continues to impress with high-grade, near-surface copper mineralization now confirmed at the Lightning Ridge Prospect and 2200N Zones at the Storm Project.”

“The assay results for Lightning Ridge have revealed new thick, high-grade copper zones that have potential to add significant volumes of potentially economic near-surface mineralization at Storm.”

Highlights from drill hole SR23-52 at the Lightning Ridge prospect include:

  • 15.2m @2.3% Cu from 30.5m, including,
  • 1.5m @4.5% Cu from 32m, and,
  • 1.5m @4.5% Cu from 44.2m

The prospective structures that host the high-grade copper mineralization at the Thunder and Lightning Ridge prospects extend for more than 10km and remain untested.

Highlights from drill hole SR23-50 at the 2200N Zone include:

  • 29m @1.5% Cu from 4.6m, including,
  • 6.1m @2.9% Cu from 4.6m, and,
  • 6.1 @3% Cu from 25.9m
  • 3m @2.8% Cu from 53.3m

The successful exploration and resource definition drilling of the near-surface copper mineralization, together with regional targets within 2,200km2 underscore the camp-scale copper mining opportunity emerging at Storm.

“Our first ever drilling at the 2200N Zone has also confirmed high copper grades and significant resource potential across 450m of known strike. The 2200N Zone remains open at depth and laterally along the extensive fault network. The latest results are an excellent outcome as we continue to demonstrate the potential for a camp scale copper mining opportunity within the Storm Project.” Said Mr. O’Neill.

Additionally, American West expect to receive further assay for the 2023 drilling programme, including expansion and resource definition drilling at the 4100N Zone, expected over the coming weeks.
