The Assay TV – Tim Harrison, Managing Director, Ionic Rare Earths (ASX:IXR) – 15/2/2023

Reading Time: 1 min read

The Assay TV catches up with Tim Harrison, the managing director of Ionic Rare Earths (ASX: IXR), a company focused on developing its flagship Makuutu Rare Earths Project, located in Uganda. The mineralization at Makuutu has been confirmed as an ionic adsorption clay rare earth mineralization, akin to Chinese ionic clay projects.

Tim informs us that the company is waiting for the finalization of the Mining Licence Application (MLA) at Makuutu and that there has been significant progress achieved in 2022 at the IonicRE’s 100% owned magnet recycling subsidiary, Ionic Technologies facility in Belfast, UK.

Tim also explains that Ionic continues to focus on further advancing discussions with several groups who have indicated a desire for greater critical mineral supply security and, specifically, access to the Makuutu basket of heavy rare earth elements.
