Odyssey Marine Exploration has almost 30 years of experience exploring the deep ocean to become a subsea mineral exploration, validation, and development leader, working with governments worldwide to identify mineral resources in Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ), focusing on phosphorite, and polymetallic nodule projects.
The US based company has recently formed a partnership with Ocean Minerals. Moana Minerals Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ocean Minerals, holds a five-year exploration licence from the Cook Islands seabed minerals authority to explore polymetallic nodules within the Cook Islands’ EEZ.
Further, the pair explain how polymetallic nodules contain metals critical to the growing renewable energy market, including cobalt, nickel, manganese, and rare earth elements, and that the extraction of these minerals from the seabed has a low ESG footprint.
