The Assay TV catches up with Cédric Simonet, CEO of Altona Rare Earths (LON:REE). Altona’s flag ship project is the Monte Muambe Rare Earths Project, located in Northwest Mozambique. Altona is rapidly developing a diversified portfolio of critical raw materials mining projects in Africa.
The Monte Muambe Project was acquired in 2021, and a scoping study was completed in 2023 with a maiden resource of 13.6Mt @2.42% total rare earths oxide.
Additionally, Cédric explains how the company identified a high-grade fluorspar zone separate from the rare earths resource to diversify and mitigate risk. The Monte Muambe Project provides an opportunity for the rapid development of a medium-scale low-capex fluorspar mine.
