South Pacific Metals Corp (TSXV: SPMC) has announced that Cathy Fitzgerald will step down as president and director, effective 11 July 2025.
Fitzgerald has been instrumental in guiding the company’s exploration strategy in Papua New Guinea, particularly shaping its upcoming inaugural drill campaign at the Osena Gold-Copper Project.
Executive Chair Michael Murphy praised her contributions and noted he will soon travel to PNG to oversee final preparations. Drilling at Osena, a 3,100km² project located in the highly prospective Kainantu Gold District, is expected to begin later this month.
The board continues to execute a “boots-on-the-ground” approach across its four projects (Osena, Anga, Kili Teke, and May River), each bordering major producers like K92 Mining and Barrick/Zijin. Management restructuring follows a period of technical leadership growth and aligns with the transition into operational exploration.
