Sierra Madre Gold and Silver Ltd. (TSXV: SM | OTCQX: SMDRF) announced a two-phase expansion plan for its La Guitarra silver-gold mine in Mexico. The first phase aims to raise processing capacity from the current 500tpd to between 750–800tpd by the second quarter of 2026. Planned enhancements include a paste fill plant, a fourth ball mill, a second cone crusher, and upgraded material handling systems.
The second phase is projected to increase capacity further to 1,200–1,500tpd by the third quarter of 2027. Key components of this stage include construction of a new 5.8Mt Dry Stack Tailings Storage Facility and the addition of a second crushing circuit and ball mill to support the higher throughput.
Sierra Madre stated it will self-fund both expansion stages using existing treasury and cash flow, eliminating the need for near-term capital raises. Management highlighted operational continuity during expansion, citing recent maintenance completed with minimal downtime as an example.
