Rimfire Pacific Mining Ltd (ASX: RIM) has unveiled encouraging assay results from its air‑core drilling programme at the Currajong prospect in central New South Wales, confirming it as a high‑grade scandium target. The fresh results bolster Currajong’s position as one of the leading scandium projects in Australia.
The second batch of drill assays once again returned significant scandium concentrations, reinforcing earlier findings. Rimfire plans to complete a maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE) by August now that the project’s broader ultramafic corridor has demonstrated consistent mineralization.
Managing director, David Hutton, highlighted the strategic importance of these results, especially as China currently controls around two‑thirds of global scandium supply. He views Currajong as a potential long‑term, low‑risk, independent supplier of this critical metal to Western markets.
The next phase involves expanding drilling in the southern zone and integrating additional anomalous areas into the impending resource definition. With global scandium demand rising amid tighter supply chains, Currajong is emerging as a candidate for securing rare-earth supply outside of China.
