International Graphite (ASX: IG6) has outlined the strong earnings potential of its new graphite micronising facility in Collie, Western Australia, with construction remaining on track for commissioning in mid-2027.
The facility is set to become Australia’s first commercial-scale graphite micronising plant, positioning the company as a potential first mover in supplying high-value graphite products to customers seeking more secure supply chains amid growing geopolitical uncertainty.
Recent equipment selection has expanded the facility’s production capabilities beyond those outlined in the original Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) study, enabling the manufacture of a broader range of graphite products, including high-value superfine materials.
Based on a 12-month production snapshot using current spot market pricing, International Graphite estimates the plant could generate annual revenue of between A$26.0M and A$32.4M, along with annual EBITDA of A$11.1M to A$14.2M, depending on the final product mix.
The forecast is based on annual production of between 4,300t and 6,400t of finished graphite products, ranging from 5µm to 45µm particle sizes and including both standard and higher-grade materials.
Construction of the production building and installation of the first milling equipment are expected to be completed during Q2 2027. Vendor testing for additional milling equipment has already been finalised, with equipment orders being prepared for delivery before the end of Q2 2027.
The company noted that final equipment selection was driven by market research, product development work at its Collie R&D Centre, customer engagement, and discussions with industry participants.
International Graphite also highlighted several opportunities for future growth, including low-cost, capital-efficient expansion of production capacity and further diversification into higher-value graphite products.
