Lion Rock Resources Inc. (TSXV: ROAR | FSE: KGB | OTCQB: LRRIF) has completed Phase 1 of its multi‑phase exploration drilling programme at the Volney Project in South Dakota’s historic Black Hills mining district. The company drilled 3,600m across 15 holes, marking the first modern drill testing along the Volney trend and targeting a combination of gold‑bearing structures and lithium‑bearing pegmatites.
Highlights
- Phase 1 diamond drilling completed: 3,600m across 15 holes targeting gold‑bearing structures and lithium‑bearing pegmatites along the Volney trend
- Multiple sulphide‑bearing shear zones with quartz veining and silicification intersected across the drilled strike length, correlating with surface samples grading up to 14.0 g/t Au
- Spodumene‑bearing pegmatites encountered in several holes, including VOL25‑009, which intercepted two spodumene‑bearing pegmatite zones between 48.3–76.9m and 103.5–120.3m
- Pegmatite intercepts align with areas of previous surface sampling that returned up to 3.6% Li₂O; cassiterite and tantalite also observed in core
- Core processing is complete and samples have been submitted to SGS in Denver; assays pending
- Results will inform planning for an expanded Phase 2 drill programme targeting the project’s multi‑commodity potential
Dale Ginn, president and CEO, commented, “The successful completion of Phase 1 represents an important milestone for the Volney Project. This inaugural programme has efficiently tested a combination of gold‑bearing structures and lithium‑bearing pegmatites, highlighting Volney’s potential as a multi‑commodity system with relevance to both precious metals and critical minerals. While gold and lithium were the primary targets of this programme, the project also hosts historic tin production and is highly prospective for tantalum. With core processing nearing completion and assays expected in the coming days and weeks, we look forward to finalising and advancing an expanded Phase 2 drill programme as results are received and interpreted.”
