Astral Resources NL Hits Big with Significant Gold Intercepts

Astral Resources NL (ASX: AAR) has announced its latest assay results from a drilling campaign at the Kamperman Prospect, part of the company’s fully owned Feysville Gold Project. Situated just 14km south of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, the project is showing great promise. The results come from the first 20 holes, covering 2,580m, of a 31-hole (3,834m) reverse circulation (RC) drill programme aimed at both in-fill and extension drilling. The findings are already hinting at significant gold potential, making this an exciting development for Astral.

Astral Resources’ managing director Marc Ducler said: “These latest holes at Kamperman continue to surprise to the upside – showing that there is a potentially very significant high-grade opportunity here that we are yet to unlock. “Previously, FRC243 returned a very high-grade zone of two metres at 188g/t Au from 77m, 40m to the north-east. FRC378 has now returned another very high-grade zone of three metres at 177g/t Au from 74m. “Previous diamond drilling that was completed to better understand the potential orientation of this very high-grade zone was not successful; however, given the potential size of the prize, additional work is warranted.”

Notable results include;

  • 12m at 7.26g/t Au from 23m, with highlights of;
  • 1m at 16.5g/t Au from 24m and 1m at 39.7g/t Au from 27m
  • Further down-hole, there was an impressive 25m at 24.3g/t Au from 68m, including;
  • 1m at 28.0g/t Au from 69m and 3m at 177g/t Au from 74m in hole FRC378
  • Hole FRC377 yielded 12m at 1.96g/t Au from 20m and 5m at 1.25g/t Au from 58m
  • Hole FRC372 showed 4m at 2.95g/t Au from 61m and 11m at 0.96g/t Au from 91m
  • Hole FRC371 recorded 18m at 0.90g/t Au from 25m

RC holes FRC377 and FRC378 were specifically designed to in-fill the northern end of the Kamperman prospect and test for potential north-plunging mineralization. This was based on previous intercepts of 14m at 1.44g/t Au from 54m in hole FRC304 and 12m at 1.99g/t Au from 78m in hole FRC341. The results from these holes are promising, and diamond drilling (DD) is planned to better understand the orientation of the high-grade zone identified in hole FRC378. Step-out holes to the north and north-east also intersected gold mineralization, indicating that Kamperman remains open to the north. Further assay results from the Kamperman program are pending.

Currently, the RC rig is conducting several drill holes at Mandilla to determine dewatering requirements as part of the hydrogeological work programme for the Mandilla PFS. At the Iris Deposit, a programme of 10 holes for 1,365m of in-fill drilling has been completed, with an additional ten holes remaining.

At the Eos Deposit, 16 holes for 2,540m are scheduled to be drilled soon. Meanwhile, at Mandilla, a DD rig has commenced a four-hole, 1,600m drill programme of deep in-fill holes ahead of an update to the Theia Mineral Resources Estimate, which is expected to be reported in the March quarter of 2025.
