Midnight Sun Mining (TSXV: MMA) has identified multiple new copper exploration targets at its wholly owned Dumbwa copper deposit in Zambia following an initial high-resolution ground magnetic survey.
The survey covered a 2.7km by 2.5km area in the northern portion of Dumbwa’s central mineralised block and successfully identified distinct magnetic signatures associated with drill-confirmed copper mineralisation. Importantly, similar signatures were also detected outside the known mineralised corridor in areas that have not previously been tested.
Based on the results, Midnight Sun is now extending the ground magnetic survey across the deposit’s full 20km copper-in-soil anomaly, with the aim of refining existing targets and identifying additional mineralised zones along parallel structural corridors.
The survey highlighted a distinctive pattern of rapidly changing magnetic intensity within the northern part of the central mineralised block, an area that has previously delivered significant copper intercepts, including:
• 21.0m at 0.33% Cu (DBW-25-148)
• 17.8m at 0.85% Cu and 21.4m at 0.38% Cu (DBW-25-149)
• 80.0m at 0.39% Cu (DBW-26-123)
Midnight Sun believes this magnetic signature is linked to the geological and structural setting that hosts copper sulphide mineralisation at Dumbwa and could provide a valuable targeting tool for future exploration.
The survey also improved the company’s understanding of fault structures that may offset mineralisation across the project. This information is expected to assist with future drill planning and improve targeting within the main mineralised corridor.
Two new, previously untested targets have already been generated from the survey. Located approximately 1km to 1.2km east of the main Dumbwa mineralised corridor, the targets display magnetic characteristics similar to areas that have already returned higher-grade copper mineralisation.
Midnight Sun plans to test the targets as part of its Phase 2 exploration programme, scheduled to begin in Q3 2026. Additional prospective targets have also been identified west of the main mineralised corridor and are currently being evaluated for inclusion in the programme.
Midnight Sun COO Kevin Bonel commented, “We are encouraged by how effectively this ground magnetic survey has enhanced our understanding of the structural architecture of the Dumbwa deposit and its relationship to higher-grade mineralised zones. Importantly, the survey has allowed us to ‘fingerprint’ the magnetic signature associated with the Central higher-grade block and identify several analogous targets east of the main mineralised corridor. These targets will be prioritised for future drill testing and provide a compelling opportunity to identify significant additional copper mineralisation and further expand Dumbwa’s rapidly growing footprint.”
