International Graphite Limited (ASX: IG6 | FWB: H99) has reported further outstanding purification results from testwork conducted at ALKEEMIA’s specialist graphite laboratories at Porto Marghera in Venice, with all samples exceeding 99.9% total graphitic carbon (TGC).
Seven graphite concentrate samples — including material from International Graphite’s Springdale Graphite Project — were tested using ALKEEMIA’s hydrofluoric acid (HF)-based purification technology. Purity results ranged from 99.91% to 99.98% TGC, confirming the ability of the process to consistently deliver high‑specification graphite products across a range of flake sizes and feedstock sources.
The latest results further validate ALKEEMIA’s proprietary HF purification technology, which remains the only commercially proven reagent used at scale for high‑purity graphite processing. International Graphite said the success of the testwork demonstrates that the process can be applied to concentrates sourced from multiple African and European operations, significantly reducing supply‑chain risk for future processing operations.
The purification results support plans by International Graphite and ALKEEMIA to establish a major graphite processing hub at Porto Marghera through a 51:49 joint venture, as previously announced. Onsite access to ALKEEMIA’s chemical infrastructure, reagent supply and planned commercial‑scale purification facilities is expected to expand the range of high‑value industrial and advanced graphite products the joint venture can deliver.
Looking ahead, International Graphite has secured up to 50% of the start‑up capacity of ALKEEMIA’s 200t/y industrial graphite purification plant and intends to increase utilisation as the facility ramps up toward its targeted 20,000t/y capacity by 2030. In parallel, the joint‑venture partners are progressing site layouts, project design and cost estimates for the new processing hub, while advancing commercial agreements to support construction.
International Graphite also confirmed it is working with multiple graphite concentrate suppliers to secure feedstock and is in advanced negotiations with a leading European graphite sales firm to support future product offtake.
