Century Lithium (TSXV: LCE) has reported successful production of battery-grade lithium-metal anodes using lithium carbonate from its Angel Island project in Nevada. The company collaborated with Alpha-En Corporation, which used its proprietary room-temperature deposition process to convert Century’s lithium carbonate into high-purity lithium-metal anodes.
The lithium carbonate sample, produced at Century’s pilot plant, was 99.8% pure and met or exceeded typical commercial standards. Pilot tests showed strong areal capacity and high extraction efficiency, confirming the material’s suitability for advanced battery applications.
Angel Island, located in Esmeralda County next to Albemarle’s Silver Peak operation, is expected to produce 34,000tpa of battery-grade lithium carbonate over a projected 40-year mine life. This milestone supports Century Lithium’s strategy to supply high-quality, domestically sourced lithium products into the growing North American battery and electric vehicle markets.
The results further validate the commercial potential of Angel Island and reinforce the company’s role in strengthening the US lithium supply chain.
