Arizona Sonoran Copper Company Inc. (TSX:ASCU, OTCQX:ASCUF) has successfully completed its PFS drilling campaign and is now moving forward with DFS infill drilling at its Cactus Project in Arizona.
The company drilled a total of 232,000 feet (70,715m), including 160,000 feet (49,000m) dedicated to the PFS. This work focused on upgrading near-surface and lower-grade inferred resources to the indicated category, particularly in the southern part of the Parks/Salyer deposit. Early assay results suggest a strong conversion rate, with consistent copper porphyry mineralization encountered at both Parks/Salyer and Cactus West. An updated MRE is currently in progress and will feed into the upcoming PFS, expected in the second half of 2025.
The PFS drilling included 134 holes across the entire project, covering geotechnical, hydrogeological, metallurgical, and resource conversion drilling at 250-foot spacing.
With the PFS drilling now complete, the company has kicked off its DFS infill program. This phase aims to upgrade Indicated resources to the Measured category, using tighter 125-foot drill spacing. The DFS program includes around 110 holes totalling 80,000 feet (24,000m) and is expected to wrap up by early 2026. It also includes additional geotechnical, hydrogeological, and condemnation drilling to further de-risk the project.
George Ogilvie, Arizona Sonoran President and CEO commented, “As we move through the technical study phase and increase the confidence levels of the MRE, we continue to demonstrate the Cactus Project as a high-quality copper porphyry deposit. Cactus continues to show itself as a lower risk copper asset in a tier one jurisdiction, with leachable oxides and enriched material from open pits. We are focused on defining the leachable material for inclusion into the anticipated mine plans, while the step out drilling is beginning to indicate larger mineral resource potential from Cactus West to the north, south, southwest and below the pit within largely primary sulphide zones. We look forward to updating the market again soon, first with an MRE update and then mine plan and economics within the PFS within the second half of 2025.”
