Anax Metals Intersects Massive Sulphides at Evelyn

Anax Metals Intersects Massive Sulphides at Evelyn

Anax Metals Limited (ASX: ANX) has provided an update on drilling at the Evelyn deposit, part of the Whim Creek Project, located 115km southwest of Port Hedland.

Anax’s managing director, Geoff Laing, commented, “We have redoubled our efforts to deliver leveraged growth outcomes at Whim Creek. A high-grade copper and zinc resource has already been delineated at Evelyn and highly prospective proximal exploration targets are key targets for growth. It is pleasing to again see the familiar massive mineralization that this deposit delivers. We look forward to providing ongoing updates on the near mine exploration along with our regional consolidation strategy.”

The company recently announced that it was commencing a drilling programme at Evelyn of up to 1,700m. Processing of the first two holes have been completed and both have intersected zones of disseminated, stringer, and massive sulphides consisting of chalcopyrite (Cu), sphalerite (Zn), galena (Pb), pyrite, and pyrrhotite, up to 13.5m thick.

The best visual intersection from the drilling programme to date is from Hole 24AED002A which encountered a strongly mineralized zone between 176.45 and 189.9m. The hole was designed to increase drill spacing in a portion of the Evelyn resource that is currently classified as inferred.

Hole 24AED001 was designed to intersect the high-grade shoot below previous drill hole, JER074, which intersected 13m @ 2.56% Cu, 4.98% Zn, 1.92 g/t Au, and 41 g/t Ag. The hole deviated in a southerly direction from its planned intersection position and clipped the base of the shoot, intersecting approximately 1.9m of disseminated and massive sulphides from 190.85 to 192.7m consisting primarily of chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite, followed by approximately 33.6m of disseminated and localized stringer sulphides from 192.7 to 226.3m.

Drilling at Evelyn is ongoing, targeting down-plunge extensions below 22AER005B which intersected 13m @ 4.46% Cu, 3.10% Zn, 45 g/t Ag, and 1.61 g/t Au from 204m. Core from the first two holes have been dispatched to Perth and will undergo continuous XRF scanning, geotechnical logging followed by geochemical assays. Laboratory assay results are expected to be finalized in September and will be reported once received.
